About the Department

To embrace the challenges of creating a happy and successful adult life, pupils need knowledge that will enable them to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships and to build their self-efficacy. Everyone faces difficult situations in their lives and through PSHE we can support young people to develop resilience, to know how and when to ask for help, and to prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. PSHE teaches the statutory Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education, Citizenship and Religious Education

What will your child learn in year seven?

During their time at Redden Court, your child will be taught PSHE for one hour each week.

In year 7, they will cover 6 main topics:

How can learning progress beyond the classroom?

Like all subjects at Redden Court, PSHE will offer several house competitions outside of the classroom to allow students to really stretch their ingenuity and knowledge in new ways and build on what they have learnt in the classroom. As students move into year 9 they will also have the opportunity to take on the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, an internationally recognised achievement that encourages young people to get involved in their community and take on new challenges. We also normally try to offer trips to the Royal Courts of Justice and the Houses of Parliament.
