Redden Court School has consistently been above the National Average in terms of our own school attendance. The National Average nationally (exc. Covid years) has been around 94.5%. We have always had a robust system in place to address attendance and have long been a school of choice. We have therefore been consistently over 95% for each of these last 5 years.
Requests for 'leave of absence' during term time should be sent in to your child's Head of Year using this form: Leave of absence request form
All parent/carers will understand that regular attendance at school is necessary for children to make good progress with their education and, in order to support the school with its ‘Commitment to Success for All’, it is expected that family holidays will be arranged during official school holiday periods. Leave of absence will not be granted for family holidays during term time. Any unauthorised holiday will result in a penalty notice with an associated fine.
Requests for ‘Leave of Absence’ for students may be made on the understanding that:-
There are compassionate circumstances surrounding the absence. If these compassionate circumstances are not outlined in detail then leave of absence will not be granted.
Students will not miss any school/GCSE examinations.
In accordance to the amendments which came into effect on the 1st September 2013, guidelines make it clear that Head Teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are ‘Exceptional Circumstances’.
The request is made at least 14 days before the start of the proposed absence.
