On this page you will find out more about the curriculum and assessment journey that our students take whilst at Redden Court School. We have recently updated our curriculum overviews to provide students and parents/carers with all of the information that they need to progress or support their child. We are proud of our forensic approach with student achievement and we are pleased to share how we make our learning bespoke through our newly launch Key Objective Progress (KOP) initiative.
We have updated this page with our latest curriculum guides below for each subject area. Inside each of them you will discover the following:
Subject information
Ways to support learning outside school
Useful links and online resources
Exam board information
Schemes of learning detailing the topics being taught each half term in each year group for each subject
Key Objectives and how students are assessed throughout the year
We also have links to our ‘Super Curriculum’ for each subject within the guides, to enable our students to tap into a passion that they may wish to explore for further learning, experiences and career opportunities within each subject area.
Our KS4 Curriculum and Options pages have also been updated with subjects guides and exam specifications.
We believe that for students to truly make progress, there is a need to break down the challenge into manageable chunks and identify areas to focus on. This is why our talented subject leaders have broken down the curriculum for each year group into a number of Key Objectives (KOs).
Our newly launched Key Objective Progress (KOP) allows us to track student progress against each KO for each subject in each year group to have a better understanding of which specific parts of a subject each student needs to improve. This replaces our previous DPR and helps us to tailor intervention strategies and personalise our teaching and learning to maximise their progress.
We also want students and parents/carers to engage with KOP to support with discussions and revision at home. All of our KOP sheets are on our website above and each students has a printed version on the folders in their lessons. By the end of the year we hope to have our KOP trackers available on Bromcom/MCAS for a live view of a student’s progress towards each KO.
We measure the progress of our students over time through a number of assessments each year, which progressively increase as they graduate from Key Stage 3 into Key Stage 4. Each subject will deliver their own assessments within lessons to make judgements, which then feed into appropriate interventions of support and challenge within our faculties and across the school. Below is a table of the key assessments and reporting of progress.
